Glass Gem Corn Candy Stripe Seeds 40g

Phenotype Series ② Candy Stripe

This listing is for 40g of seeds from individual Candy Stripe Glass Gem Corn plants harvested in 2025.

The seeds will be bagged and shipped from kernels that have been separated as shown in image 3. (This is approximately 200-300 kernels, but the exact number will vary depending on the size of the kernels at the time of packing.)

While these seeds are primarily from plants with overall striped patterns, there may be a rare instance of a non-striped seed mixed in.

Glass Gem Corn genetics are complex, and various phenotypes can emerge. The exact ratio of Candy Stripe expression is unknown. Based on my experience, planting a larger quantity of Candy Stripe seeds seems to increase the likelihood of producing more Candy Stripe plants.

Due to potential pollen influence, some plants may exhibit a chimera-like phenotype with stripes appearing only on a portion of the cob, rather than the entire cob being striped.

I have been fascinated by the beauty of corn since childhood. When I was young, I grew various types of popcorn to feed my hamsters.

When Glass Gem Corn, hybridized by Carl Barnes, was introduced to Japan, I began cultivating it as well.

In 2017, a single plant with striped patterns, a Candy Stripe, emerged.

Candy Stripe is a pattern found in some varieties of Native American corn that Carl Barnes favored.

By preserving the seeds from this single plant, I have cultivated beautiful Glass Gem Corn, including the Candy Stripe varieties available for sale today.

As corn cross-pollinates easily, I grow these plants separately from other corn varieties and at different times.

Shipping will be via Fourth Class Mail.

Glass Gem Corn is heavy, so bulk discounts are not available.

We do not offer smaller portions of different colors for ￥300. The quantities listed are the minimum available.
